May 8

Spring is music time for Mrs. Phillips. It is fast becoming a tradition.

So I figured if someone else can figure out how to play a fiddle well so can I. I wonder what it is about one person who can sit there for hours screetching on a fiddle until they gits it and another person just won't. I'm thinking I might be one of the ones content to listen to screetching for some time. Interesting what entertains people. But I'm here to tell you, if you give up television, I think you can do just about anything.

8:30 a.m. well I finally got this page up, my goodness I've had a terrible time uploading new updates for the past several days. Anyway, I'm happy to say I got my fiddle from Frank in Winston Salem and am super excited to get a shoulder rest so I can start practicing.
6:30 a.m. I woke up this morning the Gunfight in Durango by Chatham County line from the CD Route 23 playing in my brain. I wish I could put it on this page for you to hear but I don't know how. But for ninety nine cents you could download it from itunes.

and in the spirit of the waybacks, here's a real petrified band!

these little guys were actually inspired by the Ducks, but I'm just listening to my waybacks cd, From the Pasture to the Future and the first song is called "the petrefied man"

the banjo man's arm broke in transit to Merelfestival.

Monday
May 1st

I got to endulge in a little idolitry this past weekend when Bob Wier showed up at the Merelfestival and played with the Waybacks. It was great. I waited in a line to get his autograph and Crystal Riggins took this picture of me which I think is hylarious goofy and just plane funny that I waited in line to get his signature, what a joyful silly thing thing to do. and embarassing too! I'm still laughing.
