| This summer I will be at the International Society of Glass Beadmakers Gathering in Kansas City Missouri. For that event they are having a bead show so I did a little research on the city to help me decide what theme to use in my beads. I discovered that Kansas City is the city of fountains. They have a fountain with a man on a horse that looks like an alligator (thank you Cynthia Carnes) in a photo But they do have an Alligator festival | ||
| "Alligator Originally, a slang term for "Musician". Very early in Jazz history, musicians referred to themselves as "alligators". Now it simply refers to any Swing Devotee (abbrev. 'Gator or Gate) Note: Louis Armstrong is often called 'Gate Mouth', from the same source. Ex: 'Cat' #1: See ya later, alligator. 'Cat' #2: After while, crocodile." This quote above is from the website of Popular Music Slang Expressions |

I also know Kansas City is very proud of their Jazz history and culture. I decided to combine the alligators and Jazz with a series of sculptures of alligators with their Jazz instruments. This is the first one. He is half human half alligator and I count him as part of my 100 mans project |
