Hello Friends

On Friday, November 30 at 7:00 PM there will be some fine, down home, acoustic Christmas music at  the Cultural Center in Holly Springs.
The remarkable non profit organization Friends of Bluegrass (Friendsofbluegrass.org) is once again putting on a grassroots event - this time to celebrate the holiday season and the great musical heritage of  North Carolina...

Holly Springs Cultural Center
300 W. Ballentine St.
Holly Springs, NC 27540
(919) 567-4000

The opening act this evening  is  Jan Johansson & Friends.
This ensemble will be performing a variety of well known  English and Northern European Christmas selections.
The line up of Jan Johansson & Friends is:

Denise Hering - Mandolin , Vocals
Susan Wagner - Fiddle, Vocals
Burke Haywood - Clarinet, Banjo

The Head Liner and main attraction of the evening  is , Nixon, Blevins and Gage - a superb chamber-grass trio from  the Raleigh area.

Everybody who has been involved in Folk, Bluegrass or Americana type music in the Triangle area over the last 20 years is familiar with Larry Nixon . Larry is a multi talented vocalist, instrumentalist and broadcast personality who - together with Tim Woodal - co-hosts the very popular "Pinecone Bluegrass Show" on FM 94,7 WQDR - Sundays 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
This evening Nixon, Blevins and Gage will be performing  some of our most beloved Holiday classics
in their own unique style which could be musically described as the seasonal  intersection  where Doc,
Merle and T Michael meet  up with Bing Crosby and Perry Como

Larry Nixon - Guitar
David Blevins - Guitar
Steven Gage - Bass

Following  the intermission - before Nixon, Blevins and Gage take the stage - a couple of bands consisting of students from  Johansson's Acoustic Music Studio will be playing a selection  of Christmas standards.

These students range in age from  6 to 15 and they have all been working very hard to put on a good performance for all of you. Please come out and  support this event, the muicians and Friendsofbluegrass.org
